This was a delightfully spicy, why-choose paranormal romance set within Melford Mental Institution. If you’re a fan of a long trigger list, the Grim Reaper, and all of the above you are in for a treat. You’ll appreciate the group dynamic and watching Amri grow and learn about the ever-present darkness around her.
This was entirely unique from start to finish which is super appreciated and definitely made the story a page turner the entire way through. I loved having the entire story set at Melford, it truly kept the vibe the entire time and absolutely added more dimension to the storyline. I think it would have been great to add more realistic touches into the treatment but nothing that was a make or break to the story itself. The paranormal aspect was woven perfectly into the modern setting. It felt believable and added depth and mystery to the story. I really appreciated the depth of this story. There were so many more angles than just the harem which is always greatly appreciated.
The men and Amri? PHEW. Major spice alert. I liked how the group was halfway established already. It made for a super interesting dynamic with the newcomers, and everyone having to adjust and find their own place in the group. The backstory behind Amri and Grim was super intriguing and done well in my opinion. Again, it helped add layers to the relationship not only between them, but everyone else. Be sure to check the trigger warnings but I guarantee you’ll need something to cool you down after you read.
