We have the unlikely hero trope, except it’s actually the unlikely queen. After reading I think I actually prefer this to the original trope.
Omaera is total badass, and I really liked how she was written. She has her soft and vulnerable side, but also does not give a single care and makes that very well known to the guys. Speaking of guys… They are such a ragtag group, but it works out well. I liked their overall dynamic, even if the personalities of the men were easily guessable and honestly expected. The spice is mediocre at best unfortunately and not very memorable.
I liked the idea of the plot and the way Omaera is thrown into this role without any semblance of preparedness. There was a lot of back and forth for her which I thought was a nice touch of depth for her character’s overall development. The plot overall was pretty bland if I’m being honest. Everything felt lackluster and simplistic.
