A witchy spin-off you never knew you needed

Anytime a book is considered a spin off of a classic such as Jane Eyre my mind goes one of two places; it’s either too similar or too different for it to be enjoyable OR it’s perfectly fused with the original storyline. I’m very, very pleased to report that this book is the latter. Truly this is probably one of the best renditions I’ve had the pleasure of reading. It was close enough to the original that I felt it kept the charm, but unique enough that it truly was a new story at its core. Speaking of the story itself, it felt like every chapter there was a new twist that made me want to keep reading to watch all the pieces come together. I appreciated that they were easy enough to follow and despite the frequency, it didn’t feel staged or rushed. The imagery was absolutely stunning, I truly felt transported to be in the midst of the magic. I very much enjoyed the sprinkling in of witchcraft and folklore details, it was informative but not in the way that it felt like a scholarly book or something of that nature. Instead it added an entirely new level to the story and kept me captivated till the very end. It almost felt like I needed to start a journal of my own! All in all, this book held its own as being entirely unique yet with the personalities that we know and love, with some even new additions. I highly recommend giving yourself a change to escape with this book, you won’t regret it!
