Shattered Glass Review

I really liked the idea of dark fairytale retelling. Retellings in general can go on two different directions so this felt like a good change of pace and plot.

This unfortunately was not a win for me. The plot started out clear but became unnecessarily complex and confusing. I appreciated the need for an in-depth and out of left field twist, but it just didn’t work out at all in this case. The idea of Willow’s dad getting away with what he did for so long felt entirely unrealistic and there was no clear reasoning as to why, it just was. Which to me as a reader is the most frustrating thing.

The characters also fell flat for me. I liked them well enough to start out with, but ended with 0 depth or any development. The spice was also lackluster at best and felt impersonal at the very best.
