This was an amazing read for a debut novel. The world building was done incredibly well and plot was unique and extremely detailed.
The multi POV was done very well. I’m not typically the biggest fan since more often than not it gets confusing fast, but I ended up loved the way the POV’s were done here. It was incredibly helpful to see both sides of the story as it was happening and not a flashback. There are more than a few twists but again the writing was very clear and nothing sidetracked from the plot. Even with a large handful of secondary charactes and seemingly multiple side plots everything does come together nicely. I was actually suprised at how well! Of course there is a cliffhanger but we have a second book coming so I’m not worried about it in the slighest.
Though it begins with an academy setting we only get a brief look at in the beginning. Trust me it’s 100% worth it. Just a side note as well; we don’t get spice, only angst in book 1 but it’s absolutely not a negative mark in my mind. It was nice to have a refreshing unique read.
