Review
This was definitely a unique horror novel. And honestly, I mean that it was pretty out there regarding the plot and execution of said plot. The entire time I truly was wondering if I was in the middle of a fever dream and if it was going to get better at any point. Surprise: it didn’t, and I finished wishing that I hadn’t.
I know that horror isn’t always supposed to make sense, but this book had literally nothing that I found realistic. There was very little background given on the characters, both primary and secondary, the world building was nonexistent and the so called “science” was laughable. With sci-fi horror like this I really do expect some semblance of real-life science, and this had none of it. Not to mention the strange “static” and the resulting tests. It felt like an overall jumbled mess of too many potential plots glued together with boring writing and one-dimensional characters.
