Honest reviews and chaotic ramblings. Welcome to my bookish brain!

Crawlspace by Adam Christopher

We are truly getting spoiled with all the space horror novels coming out in 2026, and I am so here for it!!
It took absolutely no time for readers to get right to the point of the plot; which given the page length makes logical sense. However, it left me feeling rushed and unable to enjoy the set up and world building given at the beginning of the novel. I really do feel that this impacted my ability to connect with the characters and remain invested in their survival through the rest of the book. It didn’t really help the fact that I felt that they were written pretty two dimensional and their emotions felt lackluster and forced.
I do guarantee however that this plot is one that you’ve never read before, which was exactly what I had hoped for. It draws you in quickly and keeps you on your toes till the very last page. I did find some of the sci-fi aspects to not make much sense, but I can’t tell if it was due to lack of groundwork or simply a fluke in writing style. It was enough for me to take notice of it, but I wouldn’t say that it caused a total disruption of the plot.
