I’ll be honest, I really wasn’t sure about this novel until about more than halfway through. The writing at first glance (or first half LOL) feels clunky and out of place. But eventually you get used to the personality of the writing and it becomes much more managable.
The biggest issue I had was regarding the BDSM aspect of the plot. Throughout the entire novel it felt just a tad too insincere and rushed. I didn’t feel the emotion that came with the scenes, which was a huge let down for me. Don’t get me wrong, there is very clearly an attempt being made but it unfortunately didn’t land for me.
I had already saw some reviews about plot twists, and I was expecting them to be easy to spot. Well.. Consider me wrong (in the best way) !! This is truly what saved the novel for me, and earned the third star. Though I will say I would have really loved to have more of an attempt made to explore the history and those twists more.
